About the guy

Tim Overdiek (1965, The Netherlands) likes to describe himself as a crazy juggler in a multimedia circus. (Disclaimer: English is his second language, so apologies when he drops some words while juggling bizar phrases.)  

He once started (some time in the eighties) with pen and paper, and was actually hand writing his pieces. Now it’s a bit more complicated: Handling equipment, varying from camera to microphone, from mobile phone to make-up (L’Oreal True Match super-blendable powder). Spreading the news, on television, radio and internet.

His employer is NOS Dutch national public broadcasting. Tim is based in London. His beat is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (I love saying that) as well as the Republic of Ireland.

He started his job there in January 2005. For NOS News he covers anything and everything, for NOS Journaal (tv), NOS Radio 1 Journaal (radio) and NOSJournaal.nl (website). It drives him nuts sometimes, hence the title Multimedia Maniac.

But it is a huge challenge as well, and that’s what makes it interesting. Learning one day, sweating the other, and sometimes cursing at his bosses (who came up with this multimedia thing) or at himself (either in the persona of reporter, cameraman, editor or producer – there is always someone who screws up).
